Welcome to The Apple Pan, a cherished icon of Los Angeles located at 10801 W Pico Blvd. Since its inception in 1947, this American diner has stood the test of time, captivating locals and tourists alike with its nostalgic charm and delectable offerings. Stepping into The Apple Pan feels like walking onto a movie set, where the atmosphere is both welcoming and infused with a sense of history.
The menu at The Apple Pan showcases a simple yet mouthwatering selection of classic American fare. Diners rave about the Hickory Burger, a perfectly constructed delight featuring a juicy beef patty dressed with an original steak burger sauce. Each bite bursts with familiar flavors, thanks to the use of fresh ingredients, earning it a well-deserved spot among the best burgers in LA. Accompanying the burgers are golden, crispy fries that are generously portioned—perfect for sharing or indulging solo.
But no visit would be complete without indulging in their famous desserts. The pies, especially the banana cream pie, are not just an afterthought; they are the stars of the meal. Diners recall their perfectly whipped cream topping and a crust that practically melts in your mouth. The apple pie, with sweetened apples sealed in a delicate crust, is often described as a comforting reminder of home.
The service at The Apple Pan is straightforward yet friendly, with a team that is as attentive as they are efficient. Diners appreciate the personalized touch, such as server's delight in squeezing ketchup onto their plates—a small yet memorable nuance that adds to the experience.
Outdoor seating allows guests to enjoy their meals al fresco, perfect for soaking in the vibrant California weather. Although the limited seating means a wait may be in store, the buzz of fellow patrons only adds to the lively ambiance, further enhancing your dining experience.

Feels like you’re in a movie and the food is soo good. Staff is very very friendly, they recommended the best dessert in the house and we saw a celebrity, very cool and welcoming place for all, no-one was bothered. They have an outdoor seating which is great and delicious food and dessert. Take me back to the Apple Pan anytime!
A great place to stop for a burger, fries and pie! You will step back in time as soon as you walk in. Take a seat at the counter, someone will be with you shortly. You might need to wait for a spot, but we only waited a few minutes for 3 seats together. There is a take-out window and outside seating in the back if you didn’t want to wait. The burgers are excellent as were the fries. During busy times the servers and kitchen are working hard. The fries a plenty large enough to share. Burgers come out hot and wrapped, be ready to be a little messy. The pies are to die for.
The Baseline: For a Burger-joint the burgers, fries, and drinks are prepared well, done with properly applied ingredients that should taste good, and any unique offerings should not take away from the basis of the burger itself. The Apple Pan exceeds the baseline. Food: The Apple Pan has an original 1927 Burger prep that is time tested and true to this day. Bun, beef patty, steak burger sauce, and lettuce. It tastes good and the ingredients taste fresh. No Frills and is a solid burger. The fries are hot and crispy, which makes me want to order a double dose of them. The ice tea is brewed properly and tastes like tea. Finally the pie which you can add ice cream to but I went plain on. The crust is delicate and the apples are sauced and sweet baked to perfection. You cannot go wrong. Service: Straight forward service which is friendly and efficient. There are a limited number of seats that are first come and first served. If you get fries the staff will throw down a plate and squeeze your ketchup on the plate (love that nuance of this place). My tea was always refilled and I didn’t need to ask for anything because they know what they are doing here (been open since 1947). Ambiance: This is iconic Los Angeles that is worth trying at least once and if you love it then you will love it forever. Stepping in the restaurant is like stepping back in time and enjoying a pure part of Americana. First come first serve seats but worth it if you have to wait. Update: Had the hickory burger which is 5-stars
Literally 5/5 across the board! Their Hickory burgers are so good and the vibe of the restaurant is one of which I can always depend on to be an enjoyable experience. I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints how good their food is and the service that they offer. Parking is available around the neighborhood and along the street.
We really enjoyed this classic LA diner. Non-pretentious, high quality, classic standard dishes. You can’t leave without trying a slice of pie. I highly recommend the famous banana cream. Not too sweet and topped with a generous amount of whipped cream.
The Apple pan is a classic staple LA eatery. The atmosphere is amazing, I can smell it just thinking about it. The burgers are to die for, but the real star is the tuna melt (recommend ordering on rye bread with cheese & grilled onions) - it’s life changing. The pie is divine, I love getting the seasonal flavors! Their staff is so nice, beware that seating is first come first serve!! *p.s. I recommend ordering the fries well done*
The cherry apple pie was incredible! It is the best dessert that I eat in US so far. I just shocked about its cream, highly recommend it! I ride a bike for 1 hour to eat there once a week!
Huell Howser would be proud. It was our first time visiting and the staff were warm, friendly and inviting. During the meal, the manager visited us to ensure everything was ok. We had the indoor counter seating, but there was plenty of outdoor seating as well. See for yourself. Enjoy!
